By attaching to particular receptors, sermorelin, a synthetic peptide analog of the naturally occurring growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), causes the pituitary gland to release growth hormone (GH) into the bloodstream. Because sermorelin’s GH release is pulsatile and controlled by the body’s natural mechanisms, it helps prevent the negative effects of other GH treatments. It was shown to raise GH and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) levels in patients with growth hormone deficit (GHD), a condition for which it has being investigated. It has been demonstrated to enhance bone density and cognitive performance in adults while also increasing muscle mass and decreasing fat mass.
